About Magnus Carlsen
Sven Magnus Øen Carlsen (born November 30, 1990) is a Norwegian chess grandmaster who is widely regarded as one of the greatest chess players of all time. A chess prodigy, Carlsen became a Grandmaster in 2004 at the age of 13 years and 148 days, making him the third-youngest Grandmaster in history at the time.
He held the title of World Chess Champion from 2013 to 2023, successfully defending it four times before relinquishing the title. Carlsen reached his peak rating of 2882 in May 2014, the highest in chess history. He has also been the World Rapid Chess Champion five times and the World Blitz Chess Champion six times.
Carlsen is known for his universal playing style, exceptional endgame technique, and remarkable psychological strength, often grinding down opponents in long games. His ability to find winning chances in seemingly equal positions has earned him the nickname “The Mozart of Chess.”
